On Sunday, October 23, UP Wild Delta County will host a Nature Prayer Gathering in Rapid River with the theme: Wherever You are Standing, You are on Sacred Ground. Motivated by an urgent concern for the Earth and its ecosystems, the gathering will focus on connecting with the Creator in the wilderness, recognizing the impact humanity has had on our environment, and activating our hope for a better world.
For those who have never attended one, a nature prayer gathering is a time to meet outside in community, seeking to find the sacred in the natural world. During this event, you may expect a reflection on nature, the opportunity to go out into the wilderness, a time to share your thoughts and feelings, a moment of prayer, and a closing poem. Afterwards, there will be community time with tea and snacks.
U.P. Wild Delta is a means of encountering the actively Living God, based on shared values of faith, connection, and nature. We create opportunities to foster a deeper spiritual connection with God outdoors and through virtual nature walks online. We are a community who openly prays for the healing of the land and our hearts, allowing for open conversation on our culture of consumption and celebrating our varied personal experiences. We invite all into participation as this has been from the very beginning a cross-denominational offering. Everyone is welcome in this circle just like the trees and birds welcome us to this space.
This event will begin at 2:00 PM EST and should last around 45 minutes. The location is the Dutch Mill County Park, 13149 S 15 in Rapid River, Michigan. Please bring chairs for a social gathering after the service.
